flyakate: Grouchy Kermit with text (Wrapped up in books)
Sitting with a sleeping cat is quite possibly one of the cutest things ever. Clearly, Pete is repaying my kindness of letting him go outside earlier and eat grass (our yard isn't quite prepared for unsupervised cat-ness, so it's kind of like he's in jail and gets rec time, it's kind of adorable) and do other cat-like things by sitting near me. He fell asleep on my hand a bit ago. Cuuuuuute.

Today is my cousin's birthday (17? I think) so yaaaaaaaaaaay! I get to go to the birthday dinner at their house, which is excellent. Then tomorrow I'm subbing as a 7th grade homeroom teacher and social studies teacher at Forest, which will be funny in a wholly academic way.

My interview at Labyrinth is for next Tuesday, so we'll see how that goes. I mean, I don't have the most experience with teaching computers, but I make up for it with enthusiasm? I dunno.

But Walgreens says my prescription is ready, so I'm going to do some dishes and head "over" to town. Now, the reason I'm posting is I need your help, Obi-Wan Kenobi. My cousin needs a present and (thoroughly not breaking with tradition) I'm getting her a book. Suggestions? I know she likes Harry Potter; I might buy her the Dark is Rising sequence. Or maybe Hippolyte's Island, which Laurie R. King says is "for fans of Griffen and Sabine with a longer attention span", which might be nice because I gave her the first and second GS books for Christmas. Suggestions, though don't feel bad if I don't take them ;o)

I also should really get a present (I'm thinking a book of Winnie the Pooh) for my new niece, eeeeee. So cute.

And clean the house and take out the trash and do dishes and laundry. Wohoo?

Awwww, the Princess Bride is on tv on WE. Cuteness. Also, have taken She-Devil Cat* to the vet at 9am. For my troubles (hey 9am is early after going to bed at 2) I now have cuts on the back of my hand (3) and across both wrists. So, really, it looks like I very inexpertly tried to end my life. By cat. Another two scars to add to the Pete Incident (finally, after much looking, found it, vaguely). Fun. And I won't even know how Lily is until tomorrow. Although she came back home today too: is sleeping on the dog bed, currently.

I accidentally took a nap after I got back, once interupted by a Jehovah's Witness. No joke! She gave me some magazines, but I must have seemed way too young (or just-woken-up) to get the talk.

Off to edit a Powerpoint for class and email Professor Kiddie Lit about class on Thursday to make sure that I know what the homework is (because last week class aws cancelled, kind of screwing us up). Oh yeah, and make a lesson plan in math. Must not forget.

But last night's class was oddles of fun and everyone liked my personal history ([livejournal.com profile] capedcrusader92: I brought in a picture of the quilt from the picnic with all the t-shirt squares. They boggled at the size of "our family". Too funny.) So that's good. Midterms getting to be over. Ish. Thank goodness. And TWO MORE DAY UNTIL SPRING BREAK and sunnysunny Hawaii. Anyone want a postcard? Shoot me an email at KatStarling9 (yahoo) or leave a message here (I'll screen the comments). I probably won't mail them from there, but they'll have palm trees! And sand! Yay!

Cheers!

Cat poll

flyakate: Grouchy Kermit with text (Cat Haiku)
...that's not a poll at all. Sorry.

Does your cat like to sit on things like piles of papers and books and stuff that you're using? It's just that Pete was sitting on one pile of my papers and then, when I moved another handout somewhere else, he got up with the express purpose of sitting on this OMG new exciting pile. It just amused me. And prompted this post. Instead of doing the homework that I should be. Back to that. *fleeeeees*

Cheers!

ETA OMG the music on Cold Case is FABULOUS. It's always geared to whatever past time the case is set in, and tonight it's about some fund mogul in the 80s. They're playing "Sharp Dressed Man". WHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Anxiety is...

feeling your feet in your teeth. And vice versa.

All in all, a pretty good day (except for the random 30-second body spazz on the train); I learned how to make a book! Sort of. With construction paper. And talk to China. Or rather, my mother. In China.

And now the cat is here to sleep on my bed. Clearly, this means it's bedtime. Otherwise he takes all the good bits of the blanket. (wow, my cat is dictating when I go to sleep. how sad. or amusing. or both)

Tomorrow will be a long day in the city on my normally-day-off to work on a project. Hopefully will hit the library/grocery store or something. Then home again, alone. Unless of course I miraculously obtain a boyfriend before dinnertime. You never know... *smirk*

Cheers!

Amazing that I can be sore from shoveling only an itsy bitsy spider amount of snow. *shifts in chair*

Support World AIDS Day

While watching E!, there was a commercial about World AIDS day and how it's something that everyone should support. This is extremely important cause (and thus I now have a virtual red ribbon as I didn't have a real one). But the high point? The people giving the commercial was the movie cast from RENT. *sigh* It made me happy, especially seeing Adam Pascal with short hair once again. I think it just creeps me out how much RENTmovie!Adam looks like Bon Jovi, hair-wise. I mean, dude, it bounces like a bad L'oreal commerical!

Emily-the-cat seems to be feeling better; when I got back from class he met me at the door and at present is sitting on the couch. This is an improvement. *metaphorically snuggles cat, as does not want to hurt him by real snuggling*

Aaaaand, I got back a paper from class today and I did really well. Huzzah!

Off to find some dinner-type things and do some homework! Cheers!

Uhhhh....

Okay, so I got back to Older Sister's apartment.... and Old Man Cat is not here. Casper kitty is (and at present is sitting on my lap, heeeeee), but no old cat. Not Here. AT ALL. I know he had an eye infection a couple of days ago and Sister was taking him to the vet, but.... this worries me.

Will update later. Sorry if this distresses anyone unduly, chances are everything is fine. Felt the need to share. Cheers?

ETA: Okay, cat is at vet and my cell works again. *shakes head at world* Off to class!
flyakate: Grouchy Kermit with text (Starving Roger)
Cat on lap. Cannot type correctly. Will update later when have fuller mobility of hands. Also, [livejournal.com profile] capedcrusader92? I sent you an email. In case you check here sooner. If you didn't get it, let me know :o)

*flees to buy dinner*

Cat now biting WRIST. ow. I heart my kitty. Ahhhh, has left lap so I can fleeeeeee.

Cheers!

PS OMG does anyone have the version of "Turn the World Around" by Harry Belafonte from The Muppet Show? I would love you FOREVER.

We'll see how much of this entry I can write, seeing as Casper the cat is dozing on my lap with his head on my left hand. It is the cutest thing ever, but really impedes my typing. Apologies for typos, blame the cat *grin* Having a cat on top of me is a big plus, mostly because in the apartment the heat won't go on for another week or two, so it's coooooold. But that means it's finally fall, so that's really good. I love fall. So much.

To recap my weekend, 'cause I never quite got around to posting:

--U2 was, in a word, AMAZING. I will now be spoiled to any other concert, ever. Part of the amazement was just seeing how a space like Madison Square Garden (which really isn't the best concert space at all, accoustics-wise) can be transformed by all these people jumping and dancing and singing along, even with the guitar riffs. At one point, Bono got everyone to get out and turn on their cellphone lights to "recreate the Milky Way". It was... magical. And of course all the singing was just OMG. Fantastic. And, oh goodness, the Bono/the Edge? Are hysterical. It's like they spend the whole show flirting with each other on stage. I now understand why there is U2 fanfic :o) Anyone have their latest cds and want to send me some songs? *bats eyes* Both "vertigo" (they sang it twice) and "elevation" have been stuck in my head and I don't have the music.

--Saturday I had class all day, which was great fun as we learned all there is to know about using a video camera and then editing it using iMovie. My group made a stalker flick in the basement (we think there have to be sequels now) as well as a mocumentary about Studio 54 closing (hey, it was the day Disco died, man). The high points? Editing it correctly to have my friends strut down the street to "Stayin' Alive". Doing the hussle in the dining hall. And the minute long take as Bo filmed the girls bathroom (we teased him that he took so long because he wanted to make it last). So much fun. I love class.

--Saw Five Course Love with PlaywrightTwin on Saturday night. Funny and all the little vignettes were cute, but I'm glad we got comp tickets (as the rest paid 65 bucks a pop. ouch). Then we finished the night with Ben and Jerrys and Pirates of the Caribbean. Johnny Depp is God, I've redecided.

--Sister had two friends visiting yesterday, which was fun and nice. Also Enormous Desk of DOOM? Is finally out of the apartment and outside, waiting for the trash man. Thank the Lord. To be noted, this desk has been sitting in the living room, on its side, covered in a sheet, for the past month and a half. I think Casper's sad it's gone. He liked to climb on it.

Well, my hand's starting to fall asleep from the added kitty pressure, so I think that's all I got. I've been getting a ridiculously skewed amount of sleep, but having a hell of a lot of fun. Not a bad trade off, really.

How's with all you *looks expectantly at comments* Cheers!

Sitting in the apartment, about to do homework. But first, MEME!

When you see this on your friends' list, quote Firefly
---

Mal: "Y'all see the man hanging out of the spaceship with the really big gun? Now I'm not saying you weren't easy to find but it was kinda out of our way, and he didn't want to come in the first place. Man's lookin' to kill some folk. So really, it's his will y'all should worry about thwarting." (to Simon) "Gotta say, doctor, your talent for alienatin' folk is near miraculous."

Simon: "Yes, I'm very proud."

Speaking of, anyone wanna go see Serenity with me when it opens? [livejournal.com profile] rhymester? [livejournal.com profile] capedcrusader92, wanna come up to the city? Anyone?

And omg, the cat is trying to CHASE HIS TAIL. On the end of a desk, so he almost falls off each time. OMG I love this cat. *runs off, giggling*

Cheers!

Taken from [livejournal.com profile] copperbadge, among others.

Go to your icons page in Livejournal and look at the first two icons (the one on the right and the one on the left). Pair up the characters in the two icons. Go to the next two and do the same until you have a list of ships. Then...well, write 'em.

converse shoes/Little Prince rose
w00t/Due South parternship (LOL... yes)
gunslinger/scars
SG1/clock
sparkly/bit with a dog
owls/tonks/lupin/sirius (OT4?)
stabler/benson/jack/tyler (OMG YES)

I wish there was a way to shuffle the list of icons, without having to futz with the uploading/downloading. When I get more icons, I will probably update this. And yet, I see some definite potential here. If nothing else, it'd be something to do that would not be watching years of television, which is what I seem to be doing lately. Perhaps I will go out and return the movies (which are almost a week late now, oops) and try and find something for dinner. Although I do have some cold pasta from last night. That might work.

Anyone up for doing something? 'Cause it's just me, and the dog, and the cats... and me. w00t. And, y'know, orientation on Friday. Eep.

So how's everyone else? *waves* Cheers!
