Saw Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. It was fun and very much in the rhythm of the other movies. Harrison Ford is definitely not as spry as he used to be (you can just see it) but it worked very well, and I enjoyed the byplay of him and Shia LaBeouf (who I will always kind of like regardless of the movie because he was in Holes, and that movie always makes me cry at the end). Still, in more detail, I enjoyed the return of Marian Ravenswood, but liked her better in the original, more plot for her then. Also, she looked old in a way that I found kind of distracting. Not that I'm saying they shouldn't have used her, but it made me want to give her lotion or something. John Hurt (who my brain kept trying to say was Ian Mackellan) was great as the crazy old professor, and I thought that Shia's acting in those scenes were great.
The alien subplot was a little strange, but I suppose not much stranger than the Ark of the Convenant, or looking for the Holy Grail. I enjoyed the political tensions, because it shows that time passed a little and how it might be hard for someone like Indiana Jones to live in a world where he has to justify his actions based on lines on a map. Part of me was offended for him when the FBI were so suspicious. He's fought Nazis for decades. Haven't you guys watched the other movies???
I found his "partner" Mac's role kind of bizzare, because I was okay with the "double agent" thing but then he was just faking, AND THEN they had some kind of reconciliation so he can die. It was just a little inconsistent.
Pretty stunts and effects, nice use of music as usual. Good job, all around.
