Notes: I started writing this on Mother's Day, and time got away from me. It would have been a great though achy piece for the Sunday mcsmooch 'fest, but time got away from me. Finally, I meant to finish it for sheafrotherdon's birthday... but time got AWAY from me. Finally, I decided to take time into my own hands. Thusly, dedicated (heee, get it? dediCATEd?) to all of those things, but especially sheafrotherdon, 'cause she rocks. Any mistakes are my fault. The boys (and the kids) aren't mine. sheafrotherdon, who really does have the BEST prompt ideas, wanted people to write what John and Rodney would be doing on the first days of fall, anywhere and anywhen, Atlantis or Earth, AU or canon. All of the responses are gorgeous and snuggly and make me want leaves to turn (harder even in Northern California) and some cider, which there better be at the farmers market this weekend or DOOM will fall.

... *cough* Anyway, as usual, I was inspired, and it turns out that the idea I'd had a while back about John and Rodney and Philadelphia and teaching might actually be something I could write. So I give you my first "autumnal boys" response below, connected to a ramble on Valentine's Day, expanded by the genius of beadattitude who mentioned the following: Yes, he would [keep every drawing his students made], and on Valentine's Day he'd come home covered with glitter and a little sick from all the candied hearts he'd been absently munching all day. Well, and because he didn't want to hurt their feelings.
