On books and other life-changing objects
Jun. 7th, 2005 04:35 pmLovely sun. Lovely day. Lovely final draft of the 'Pages script *bouncs* I have yet to print it out, but I am still very excited. If you're in the NYC area during August, you should come see us! And by us, I of course mean our play.
Also, to everyone from my esoteric music post: does anyone have mp3s of the songs you mentioned having? YouSendIt.com is very useful for that type of thing *innocent face* And I would luv you lots.
Parents are home, Younger Sister is at work and... I'm sitting here, reading Kim by Rudyard Kipling. Astonishingly, I never read it before. Very interesting story, and it's a lovely hardbacked green-leathry copy that I got at The Strand in NYC. If you've never been? OMG go! Like its t-shirts claim, it seriously is 8 miles of books. Or is it 18... one of those. A HELL OF A LOT OF BOOKS (which doesn't look as good on a t-shirt).
Soon after on my list are: The Te of Piglet, The Tao of Pooh, Hope in the Dark (a book about teaching as social activism), Zen and the Art of Motercycle Repair (second try, I couldn't get through it the first time), and Pullman's Dark Materials (I never go all the way through them). Right now I covet a library card--it's also good practice for REALITY, where I will not have the money to buy every book I see. This is what I get from living in GreenwichWorldLand. Dang. :o)
Two forms of ID in hand, off I go. Wish me luck! Hopefully I will come back with many many books.
Cheers!
A home without books is like a room without windows.
