Utilizing the great intarweb:
Mar. 5th, 2010 01:23 pmMy mother is big into social media. Like, has written articles about Google bombing and Twitter and cell phone usage and stuff for psychology blogs. (Is it funny that I find this adorable?) She sent me an email earlier; apparently for some project needs information about how fanfic has influenced social media, specifically in regard to the success of Twilight. In her words:
Any sources/links/papers/help of any kind any of you guys have about this would be extremely helpful. While I can Google as well as the next person and have a good grasp of fandom/fannish things, Twilight and its whole environment is so not my wheelhouse.
At the very least, I can send her links to the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Meets Edward Cullen and is Way Underwhelmed video.
Oh, Edward. Shine on, you prissy diamond.
"I could really use your help researching fan fiction, in particular the way social media has promoted the success (or possibly even caused it) of Twilight. Can you scour about and see what you can find in both academic venues about fan fiction and pop stuff about Twilight fans and the authors engagement with them via social media?"
