The baton has been passed to me by
capedcrusader92, so here it is:
1. Total Volume of Music on My Hard Drive: 2 GB, about.
2. The last CD I bought was: a couple at once, including the soundtracks for both Garden State and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Green Day's American Idiot, which is excellent.
3. The song playing right now: The Obvious Child - Paul Simon. Simply, tt's like Graceland, but Latin America instead of Africa. I love the way he mixes genres like that.
4. Five songs I listen to a lot or that mean a lot to me:
1) I'm A Rover - Great Big Sea: It's a ballad, which I love, and it's Irish (though the band is Canadian). All big pluses in my book. That and it's damned catchy and sticks in your head easy.
2) No Children - The Moutain Goats: Because it's funny and bitter and real. And Chelsea taught it to us. And we love it. "I am drowning, there is no sight of land. You are coming down with me, hand in unlovable hand..."
3) Am I Wry? No - Mew: a Danish group that really makes an interesting song. Definitely on my Must have list.
4) As Cool as I Am - Dar Williams: this is the quintessential Bryn Mawr song. Everyone knows it, and it will always evokes for me images of rose petals and laughter, friendship and hapiness.
5) Northwest Passage - Stan Rogers: Because of Due South, and years at boarding school, back when the episodes were still on. And because of the fanfic. It always comes back to the fanfic. ;o)
5. Which 5 people are you passing this baton to, and why?
I decree that this be sent to
sadcypress,
indy_go,
rabidfangurl,
friede and
darkbluelizards, just to get a range of musical tastes. And, of course, because I can *grin*
